who we are

Andrew Cahill

…was born June 28, 1979. Growing up as a child I always had a passion for building things.  I remember as a young kid, still in the single digits, I would run around my grandmother’s house with a screwdriver tightening doorknobs, handles, etc. Later in life I found out my father and grandmother were purposely loosening these things just so I could keep reworking them. My passion for fixing and repairing came at an early age.

Right out of high school at the age of eighteen, I moved to Florida and went to community college. I worked part time for a cabinet re-facing company.  After five years with commercial fast paced cabinet building, I went back to Maryland.  I began working for a high-end custom cabinet shop named, “Tillette’s Cabinets Plus”.  I worked there for five years. I learned more about custom work in those five years than I’ve learned my entire life.

After my time with the cabinet company I knew what I needed to do. I wanted to start my own business. I went back to work so I could get more experience.  But this time I wanted to soak up all the knowledge I could about other trades.  So I worked for an electric company, framing crew, plumbing, landscaping, HVAC, tiles, flooring, etc.  At this point three separate contractors had told me: “Why do you need me? You know how to do this stuff on your own.”

I then decided to start up my own business in March of 2016.   I went downtown, filled out of the paperwork, bought a two million contractor’s liability policy (which is still current today), put some ads out and had my first job within two weeks. Since then it’s been non-stop year round. I always pride myself in quality work. I tell my guys the same thing: “Quality is the most important aspect of this job”. That’s why I learned that when you pay by day, nobody is staring at the clock.

Every job I take on is like a new piece of canvas. I look at the job as artwork.  When the job is complete, my goal is to provide every customer with a piece of art even if it’s a simple repair.

Today and everyday my day starts and ends with one goal in mind: To make every customer, past and present, satisfied with the work done by “Cahill’s Home Improvement & Remodeling.”
